Kaiser’s Irwindale Health Hub provides specialty medical services based on a collaborative care concept, blending retail with health education. RELM’s landscape design was derived from Irwindale’s seventeen local quarries who supply most of LA County with aggregate materials for hardscape. The striation formed by the quarries along with the city’s alluvial scrub landscape gave rise to a central greenspace shaped by gabion walls and native plantings.
POROSITY AS DESIGN DRIVER
The facility enjoys several focal points, all of which look out onto the Public Square and exterior garden spaces.
