Santa Clara Valley, CA
Client: Santa Clara Valley Transit Authority
Drawing upon the studio’s success leading joint development transit projects in Los Angeles, the SCVTA engaged RELM to identify strategies that increase connectivity, mobility, and public space amenities ahead of issuing four Joint Development RFPs. Given no two stations shared similar urban design conditions, RELM developed a kit of parts to aid how development teams might approach individual sites, providing an array of tools capable of enhancing the pedestrian experience around transit.
RELM’s recommendations were extensive, from first-last mile best practices, expanding the urban tree canopy, to wayfinding and reconceiving what makes compelling pedestrian spaces anchored by art, lighting, seating, and landscape.
