RELM Turns 5

Voice is paramount. Voice launched RELM from hyper local, to an emerging national studio. Voice attract talent. Voice has impact. Voice defines our work and culture. Here's to another 5+ intrepid years.

Welcome, Vincent

RELM is pleased to welcome Vincent Agoe, Sr. Landscape Designer, to our team. Born in Accra, Ghana, and raised Inglewood, California, Vincent believes proximity drives culture, championing mobility’s role in enjoying metropolises. He holds a Master of City Planning and Landscape Architecture as well as an undergraduate degree in Urban Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. He looks to marry policy and design to render urban centers that work—across scale and systems.

Reclaiming The Cienega

Paying homage to the former spring-fed marshes and clustered pockets of vegetation that once characterized the area around 3401 La Cienega, RELM’s design approach defines a “Modern Cienega,” amplifying ideas of movement and monumentality.

IVY STATION, Culver City's Public Living Room opens

RELM’s Metro-adjacent landscape serves as a new community backdrop for daily living. Be it catching up with a friend over coffee, or taking a yoga and boxing class, the 1-acre urban plaza is an oasis amidst a dynamic building program—from The Shay, a new 148-room boutique hotel, to Etta, a beloved Chicago eatery now with a location in Los Angeles, to the west coast headquarters for HBO. We look forward to featuring this decade-long project throughout the next month as tenants move in.

From Industrial to Eclectic

Sacramento’s River District is transforming into a desirable neighborhood invigorated by new uses and residents. An anchor project seminal to the District’s rebirth is the Richards Boulevard Office Complex—1.25 million SF of office for 5,000 state employees, anchored around RELM’s seasonally vibrant landscape. Last week’s topping out ceremony marks a watershed moment for the burgeoning District.

RELM is thrilled to welcome two new additions to our studio - Smera Rose Jacob, our summer/fall intern and recent graduate from Rhode Island School of Design and Kat Luksus, Studio Coordinator. Both women bring their vibrant and
varied background to RELM seeking to influence how we approach our work and realize dynamic communal experience, in the public realm and within RELM’s downtown office.

Redstone Innovation Campus

Community, habitat, climate resilience, and flexible programming are central tenants in RELM’s landscape design for the Redstone Innovation Center in Huntsville, Alabama. A design-build competition won with Clark Construction and HKS, campus values are expressed in tangible and ephemeral ways through episodic gathering spaces that harness fraternity and learning in pursuit of a true, collaborative campus.
