Client Forest City Residential West
Location Chinatown, Los Angeles

Located on the northeast corner of the intersection of Broadway and College Street on the former Little Joe's restaurant site, Blossom Plaza will include a five-story project with over 200 residential units and a retail promenade. As the Landscape Architect for the project, RELM executed the landscape portion of the entitlements, prepared construction documentation and field observation for the project.

The project site includes 3 main spaces the retail promenade, the plaza and the residential courtyard. The retail promenade will link Broadway to the Metro Gold Line Chinatown station platform through an urban plaza, designed by RELM. This will link the heart of the community to the light rail, promoting multi-modal transit and easing access to promote economic vitality. The plaza will accommodate a wide variety of civic events in addition to providing nearby residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy outdoor dining and social interaction in an environment characterized by contemporary design.

The focal point of the plaza is an interactive water feature. Long monolithic pieces of granite sit within the water feature. In the center, large irregular stone pieces are up lite with lights and fog. Water jets are sprinkled throughout. For the residence, a private amenity space offers a variety of play and relaxation. The residential courtyard consists of a water feature, pool, barbecue and children's discovery garden.
