Matthew Tanicello

Landscape Designer

A self-trained furniture builder with experience working construction, Matthew Tanicello brings an acute appreciation for craftsmanship to landscape architecture. He intuitively details how to best construct ground planes that activate the built environment, resolving function and beautifying form. He spearheads RELM’s internal CAD standards and leads design documentation across multiple projects including: 8th + Figueroa, Sacramento Commons, John Burroughs Middle School, Kaiser Irwindale, and UCSD’s downtown campus at Park and Market. Matthew has practiced landscape architecture in Philadelphia, Miami, and Los Angeles.

Away from the studio, he is an avid roadsman, riding his BMX, his motorcycle or road biking on the ever-growing bicycle infrastructure in LA.

Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Philadelphia University, 2013

‘People like to see designs for what they are--they don’t want to be fooled with faux materials or tricked with illusions.  Designs need to be true to their material and vegetated palette, as well as address functionality adeptly.’
